Roots Factory are chuffed to present YT, New Years Eve, The Underground @ Baker Place on December 31st from 10pm. YT is a U.K M.C Legend, after the success of his debut album ‘Straight outta Britain’ in 2006 YT`s reputation as one of European reggae’s leading exponents has continued to gain momentum resulting in widespread radio and sound system coverage as well as extensive touring in Europe and Worldwide. Copious amounts of conscious lyrics ably enhanced by super-heavyweight production featuring the skills of the UK `s premiere Reggae producers Curtis Lynch Jr and Dready as well as tracks from other top producers hailing from around Europe. The album showcases collaborations with vocalists including the legendary Daddy Freddy, Million Stylez, Shola Ama, Blackout (JA), and the UK’s homegrown hip-hop icon – Skinnyman. On Tuesday 8th December, for the final concert in the Beethoven series of Concerts at All Saints Church in Castleconnell, are delighted to bring you the Carducci Quartet, one of the finest string quartets on the international scene, in an all-Beethoven programme which includes possibly his finest work in the genre, Op. 131 in C sharp minor. This will be an evening of music that should not be missed.
The series has been brought to you by Limerick County Council Arts Office, in conjunction with Music Network and The Arts Council who would like to thank the wonderful audiences for their support this year. he good news is that, despite talk of cutbacks and recession, they will continue to bring to Castleconnell music of the highest quality in 2010.

Limerick’s Sporting elite, Rosemary Ryan and Ollie Moran were joined by local comedian Karl Spain and to launch the Great Limerick Run; a new marathon, half marathon and 10k run that taking place in the city on May 2nd 2010. The new event which will be part of the May Bank Holiday Riverfest festivities will put Limerick on the map for running enthusiasts and first time competitors. Unique to Ireland, The Great Limerick Run marks the first ever time that a 10k, half marathon and full marathon have been held in the same location in one day and will be the most exciting event on the Irish running calendar in 2010. The event has been designed to tap into the unprecedented popularity of running in Ireland at every level - its three distances cater to everybody from the novice fun-runner/ walker to the most competitive of international athletes. It’s specifically designed to be accessible to people of all ages, ability, mobility and fitness levels. The route for the Great Limerick Run commences at the Peoples Park and will see the participants pass many great Limerick sights including Georgian Limerick, Thomond Park, King John’s Castle, the University of Limerick and the River Shannon itself. The Great Limerick Run is supported by Shannon Development, Limerick City Council, Limerick County Council, Limerick Sports Partnership, Limerick Regeneration Agency, the Limerick Coordination Office and the Sporting Limerick promotional brand.

Inches is a new weekly indie/alt programme on RTÉ 2XM presented from the mid-west by Ciarán Ryan. As well as lashing out tunes from firm-favourites such as Deerhunter, Yo La Tengo, Why?, and Stereolab, Inches will have something of a regional remit, focusing on heard and unheard artists from the south and west of the country like So Cow, Katie Kim and Elk, with tracks, interviews, gig news, and all that guff.
Inches goes out every Wednesday from 2 December 2009 at 11pm (GMT), and is repeated on Saturdays at 9pm (GMT), on RTÉ 2XM – online, on digital and on UPC Chorus Channel 944.

As a result of another Irish Chamber Orchestra innovative music project SING OUT WITH STRINGS, twenty members of a Limerick school staff are learning to play the violin alongside fellow students………
The Irish Chamber Orchestra’s commitment to excellence and consistent emphasis on education and community outreach has galvanized a new generation of music lovers in Limerick, and beyond, as it continues to expand its inspired music-making and notoriety. The fruits of this exciting project can be seen and heard when the children of Galvone National School, Southill Junior School and St. Mary’s Boys School perform their own compositions, accompanied by the Irish Chamber Orchestra, for family, friends and community at the Church of the Holy Family, Southill on Thursday 10 December at 1.30pm.
