Indie Week Ireland | Dolan’s Warehouse| Saturday July 4th

Indie-stry | Indie Week Ireland returns this month with a cracking line-up hitting four cities and the chance for one lucky band to play Indie Week Canada 2009

Vesta Varro Live at Indie Week Ireland 2008

Showcasing artists from Canada, the United States, Ireland and Spain, the Indie Week Ireland Festival Line-up has been confirmed and the show hits the road landing at An Cruiscin Lan in Cork on July 1st, Roisin Dubh in Galway on July 2nd, Whelan’s in Dublin on July 3rd, with the festival finale in Dolan’s Warehouse on Sunday July 4th

Indie Week will showcase alternative outfits Bella Clava from Canada and American outfit Paperdoll during the Ireland tour. Previous top acts Vesta Varro, winners of Indie Week Canada in 2007 and fellow Lim-rockers Walter Mitty & the Realists who took the title in 2008, will be returning to tour with the festival. That’s right, Limerick bands were voted ‘top act’ two years in a row.

On the last two nights of the tour an extra stage will be added for the showcase bands to perform. Both floors of Whelan’s in Dublin will be commandeered, and the touring bands will be joined by Irish acts The Kinetiks, Sweet Jane, Pinky, and Sixteen Layers. The final date in Limerick and will include performances by Saccade, Cutaways , Cowboy X and Poet in Process from Spain.

A top act will be determined according to the judges’ scores and crowd reaction, and will then be invited to perform at Indie Week Canada in Toronto which runs from October 7th-to 10th and given a great showcase to perform in front of booking agents, radio and press, labels and industry insiders from across North America.

Walter Mitty & The Realists who stormed to the top slot at last year’s Canadian Indie Week went onto secure Canadian management and followed up that success with a high profile showcase at Canadian Music Week earlier this year. Vesta Varro went onto to acquire a German booking agent and played other slots at various Canadian festivals like Roger’s Picnic.

Indie Week prides itself on being an artist-friendly festival that provides valuable opportunities for networking and exposure through artist showcases. You bring the talent, Indie Week will bring the industry.

Please note that lineups are subject to change.  | Tickets for each show will be €10 at the door, which will open at 7:45pm.  For more information on INDIE WEEK Ireland, visit the website at www.indieweek.com
